Hohokam farming5/6/2023 ![]() Photo from .Īrchaeologists believe that Hohokam ceremonial and ritual systems were likely influenced by Mesoamerican religions which centered around the observations of the day and night skies. Bostwick writes “We believe the Hohokam were dedicated skywatchers and thoroughly familiar with the annual movements of certain celestial bodies.” Bostwick goes on to explain that paleobotanist Vorsila Bohrer believes the “ancient and historical agricultural people of the American Southwest defined their universe by the path of the sun.” In the book Landscape of the Spirits, author Todd W. HOHOKAM SKY WATCHERSĪncient people everywhere, including the Hohokam, were deeply attuned to the cycles of nature and the movements of the day and night sky. Lord Darrell Duppa, one of Swilling’s travel companions, suggested naming the new settlement “Phoenix” because it described a city born from the ruins of a past civilization. Later that year, he formed the Swilling Irrigation and Canal Company with inspiration from the ancient Hohokam canals. He set up a community just 4 miles east of modern downtown Phoenix. While traveling through the Valley in search of gold in 1867, he recognized the potential for farming in the area. Modern-day Phoenix’s founding is credited to Jack Swilling, a Confederate veteran of the Civil War. Yet the harsh desert living conditions forced them to be self-sufficient and to make good use of local resources.Īrchaeologists believe that severe droughts and floods between 1300-1450 CE may have caused them to abandon the area. Hohokam settlements were located along major trade routes, allowing them to connect with other cultures all the way to the Great Plains, the Pacific Coast, and into Mesoamerica (much of modern Central America).

Mono symptoms in adults5/5/2023 ![]() Mono can be caused by many different viruses, but like we said earlier, the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the most common cause. Our AFC Urgent Care Ooltewah team uncovers more info about mono below, so keep reading! What Causes Mono? However, some people claim that mono has had a long-term effect on their immune system. Symptoms often clear up in about a month. Mono is no walk in the park to deal with, but also isn’t typically a cause for much concern if you do happen to get it. Did you know? Nearly everyone will come in contact with the Epstein-Barr virus-the virus that causes infectious mononucleosis, or “mono,” for short. It helps with cell communication, boosting immunity, and new cell production. Vitamin C – either naturally found in oranges, broccoli, and other food or in a supplement. It can keep the body from getting inflamed and help in the healing process as well as be used as a preventative measure against viruses. Zinc – helps keep the virus from replicating pathogens in tissues, organs, and in the blood. You can mix a tablespoon with a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice and have your child sip it slowly. Oregano Oil – stops viruses from growing and reproducing so the body can kill them more easily.Great for stopping viruses from multiplying and spreading. Apple Cider Vinegar – is used to treat many illnesses and disease it also has antiviral and antibacterial properties.Lemon Juice – contains lots of vitamin C and will help your child feel better faster. It is easily absorbed and contains lots of nutrients. Great to use in cooking or melted down and drank or taken on a spoon. Coconut Oil – is an antiviral that can stop viruses from spreading and even help kill them.Boil some garlic, strain it, let it cool, and drink. Garlic Juice – has antibacterial and antiviral properties.Gargling Saltwater – helps relieve the swelling in the throat and ease the pain.If you feel like something isn’t right or the fever doesn’t get better call your doctor right away and get them in to be reevaluated.Ī few things you can do to help your toddler heal faster are pretty basic but they work really well to get them to feel better sooner. Most toddlers recover without having any of these complications but if you notice anything like these consult your doctor. Heart problems – irregular heart rate which can happen during the first three weeks of mono.Brain and Spinal cord problems – see your doctor right away if you notice anything like this.Difficulty breathing or Airway obstruction – caused by enlarged tonsils blocking the throat.A ruptured spleen – which can happen if your toddler is to active and running around.Hepatitis – which will go away on its own.White blood cells with abnormal shape – as a result of having mononucleosis.Mild anemia – which will go away on its own after a few months.Red spots or rash – especially if on certain antibiotics, no this is not an allergic reaction. An enlarged spleen – if your child complains of stomach pain this could be why.I’m not trying to worry you just let you know these can happen, and if you notice something seek medical attention. Most children recover just fine but sometimes there are complications. ![]() Some complications that can happen while your child has mono. I am going to share with you how to identify mono, symptoms of it, complications, and also what you can do to help your little one get better sooner. They won’t tell you things you can do to help because they are natural remedies and doctors don’t always like to talk about those. ![]() ![]() No more antibiotics for this guy, they said it has to run its course. I had no idea that children this young could get mono until now!! We went in and they did blood work (not a fun experience with a little one to say the least), we got the results a few hours later and yes he had mono. I got on the phone and demanded in a nice way to see the doctor because he was starting to get worse and now had a rash. The thing with mono is that certain antibiotics can cause a rash which we experienced three days later. The doctor said it was strep throat so we got the antibiotics but after four days with little to no improvement, we got a stronger antibiotic. My four year old came down with a fever and sore throat that wasn’t getting better so we had him tested for strep throat. Little ones can spread it easily because they cough or sneeze and touch their mouths then touch other things. Most commonly spread through saliva from kissing, or by sharing a glass or food utensils. The Epstein-Barr virus causes it, but some other viruses could cause it as well. Mono also is known as glandular fever or kissing disease is more common in kids ages 5 to 13, college age, and some adults can also get it if they didn’t have mono as a child.

Itsycal gmail5/5/2023 ToothFairy: Connect Your AirPods/Bluetooth Devices with Mac FastĪpple AirPods are the fastest-selling accessory that the company has ever made and its users swear by its convenience. Install: Free trial, pro plans start at $39ģ. While it is not as powerful and extensive as Timing, it is a good free option for users who don’t need that many features and want simple time tracking only. Note: With macOS Catalina, Apple has introduced Screen Time for Mac. If you are someone who doesn’t know where his/her time is consumed while working on the Mac, this is the best app that can help you figure out your weaknesses and become more productive in the process. ![]() There’s also a timeline feature which allows you to see how productive you were in the past weeks and even months. If you think that a task is miss-categorized, you can easily change that and Timing will record the tasks correctly in the future. I also love that Timing organizes the tasks into different sub-categories and gives you an overall productivity score so you can see how productive you have been. It just sits in the menu bar tracking your activities and gives you a detailed picture when you want to see the data. The best thing about Timing is that it works automatically and you don’t have to start or stop tracking anytime. For example, I can clearly see if I was on Chrome for 8 hours, how much of that time I spent time working and reading and how much I wasted watching videos on YouTube or Netflix. Timing not only showed me what apps I was using for how long but also how I was wasting time. Tired of never receiving results, I started using Timing and boy did the results blew my mind. Before I used timing, I used to waste a ton of time on doing frivolous things on my Mac and wasted time, all the while feeling I have been working. Timing is a simple time tracker app that automatically tracks everything you do on your Mac and gives you a detailed chart of that data. If you feel like working for hours on your Mac and still not getting things done then you should try out Timing. Whichever window management software that you decide to go with, the point here is that you should use one as it will help you a lot while working on two or more apps side by side. If you are not ready to pay even that, you can use VEER ( free) or Spectacle ( free) both of which are free window management utilities for Mac and frankly work great. However, for 99% of Mac users, Magnet is enough and it costs just $0.99. There are many users who hate on Magnet and prefer some costly alternatives like Moom ( $10) or Divvy ( $13.99). ![]() The utility lives in your Mac’s menu bar and works whenever it is called upon. With Magnet, you can easily assign your apps into different halves or corners of your screen and arrange apps side by side (or up and down). I mean, it’s easy to set up and use, it’s cheap and it works all the time. ![]() Thankfully, there are tons of apps that can solve this problem for you and Magnet is my favorite amongst them all. Using two apps side by side in Macs is still a chore and nowhere near as smooth as something that we get on Windows. While I find macOS to be the superior operating system, there are some things that Windows does way better, and windows management system is one of them. Magnet: Arrange Apps Side-by-Side with Better Control ![]() Keeping that in mind, let’s begin our list of the best Mac apps and utilities, shall we?ġ. Some of them are full-fledged Mac apps while others are simple utilities that solve specific problems and make my life easier. I use all of them on a regular basis and enjoy using them. The essential Mac apps mentioned in the list are in no particular order.

Upgraded engine options combined with proven transmission and drive train components to ensure that, under the aerodynamic bodyshell, traditional Daihatsu off-road dependability was retained. Indeed, that was what interested me in the startup's pitch when I first heard it last year - when I saw that its game-creation tool was so Scratch-inspired, emphasizing building blocks rather than code. It's been almost a year since I covered the Stencyl's launch, back when I was still writing for ReadWriteWeb. The following interview is an interview with Joe Dolivo, developer relations and education lead for the startup Stencyl. Over the course of the past month, I've been working on a research project for Mozilla, asking a bunch of smart folks - technologists and teachers - whether or not the organization should build a tool to help boost Web literacy and help create more Web builders (and if yes, Mozilla should build a tool, what should it look like).
